In 2000, Miranda Bailey co-founded Ambush Entertainment, a Los Angeles based independent film development and production company, with the philosophy of producing a wide range of original and diverse feature films.
Bailey began her entertainment career as a New York theater actress. A graduate of Skidmore College, she has appeared in a number of theatrical productions including Borrego, written by Robert Glaudini; The Seagull directed by the head of the Romanian Theatre in Bucarest, Sanda Manu; and The Marathon Years directed by award-winning director Anne Bogart. Some of her television and film credits include roles on FOX's Beyond Belief and the NBC mini-series The 60’s. Recently, she co-starred with Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, Changeling) in the thriller Hindsight which premiered at this year's Victoria International Film Festival and for which she won the Best Actress award at the First Glance Philadelphia Film Festival.
Since forming Ambush Entertainment, Bailey has produced the cult hit "Dead & Breakfast" starring Jeremy Sisto, Portia de Rossi and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the 2006 sex comedy "The OH in Ohio", featuring Danny DeVito, Parker Posey and Paul Rudd. She executive produced 2005's award-winning critically acclaimed drama "The Squid and the Whale", written & directed by Noah Baumbach starring Laura Linney & Jeff Daniels, which was a Best Original Screenplay nominee at the 2006 Academy Awards and 2006 Golden Globe for Best Picture (comedy or musical) nominee.
Miranda recently produced the romantic drama, Wonderful World, featuring Mathew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan which Magnolia put in theaters in early 2010; At Sundance 2009 she executive produced the drama, Against the Current, with Joseph Fiennes, Mary Tyler Moore and Justin Kirk which will be a IFC release in 2010.
Upcoming features produced by Miranda include "Every Day" starring Liev Schriber, Helen Hunt, Carla Gugino and Brian Dennehy and the comming of age fly fishing novel adaption of "The River Why" which miranda documented the making of the film as they "greened" the production. Miranda was awarded the Sir Edmund Hillary Award from the Mountian Film Festival for environmental films. Her documentary "Greenlit" is Miranda's directing debut and will premiere at the 2010 South By Southwest Film Festival as a Spotlight Premiere.
Matthew Leutwyler was born in San Francisco where he studied film at the San Francisco Art Institute. Matthewˇ˝s first feature film, the black comedy Road Kill, was produced on a $180,000 budget. The Daily Variety called Road Kill ˇ˝A breezy entertaining ride... A jaunty trip with a good balance of dark comedy and legitimate drama.ˇ˝ The San Francisco Metropolitan called it ˇ˝Cleverˇ˝ and the London newspaper, The Mirror, called it ˇ˝A Four Star Classic!ˇ˝ Road Kill premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where it won the Audience Choice Award for best feature film. As his follow-up, Leutwyler wrote, directed and edited the more personal romantic comedy This Space Between Us. The filmˇ˝s ensemble cast included Jeremy Sisto, Poppy Montgomery, Alex Kingston, Vanessa Marcil, Taylor Negron, Erik Palladino and Garry Marshall.
Leaving The Bay Area and moving to Los Angeles, Leutwyler co-founded the production company Ambush Entertainment. His first film for the company was the award winning comedy-horror-musical Dead & Breakfast starring Jeremy Sisto, Erik Palladino, Portia DiRossi, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Ever Carradine. Since then Ambush has produced The Academy Award nominated drama The Squid & The Whale, the sexually charged comedy The Oh In Ohio starring Parker Posey, Paul Rudd, and Danny DeVito, the horror sci-fi Unearthed, and the Matthew Broderick drama Wonderful World. Most recently Leutwyler has produced the comedy Lower Learning with Eva Longoria Parker, Jason Biggs, and Rob Corddry and directed the adaptation of the acclaimed novel The River Why starring Zach Gilford, Amber Heard, and William Hurt. Outside of his career as a filmmaker, Leutwyler has worked as a mentor with the Los Angeles based non-profit The Fulfillment Fund and as an industry professional volunteer working with East Los Angeles youths on short film productions for the Youth Employment Internship Program (YEIP). Leutwyler is repped by Chris Mills at Magnet Management, and attorney David Fox at Myman, Abell, Fineman, Greenspan & Light.
Amanda began her film career as an assistant at Ambush Entertainment in 2003. She has since produced several spec commercials and short films. Amanda is Production Executive at Ambush Entertainment, where she associate produced the feature films HINDSIGHT and WONDERFUL WORLD. She is currently Co-Producer of the coming of age drama THE RIVER WHY.
